Hi - I am a male and the same thing happened to me - although I can't say this is the first time I've ever loved. I was in the middle of a great relationship then all of a sudden I'm not "the" one any more and she's moving on except, like you, she wants to be friends. Who was the guy that said why do women want to be friends right after they rip your heart out? 
You know what I think? I think it's probably a good thing this happened - it's better to find out before you make any serious commitments to this guy (like marriage) There are plenty of great guys out there (believe it or not) and one day you will look back and realize how lucky you were to have this happen.
